Guest

Dr. Kyrstin Lokkesmoe was born in Tulsa, OK and raised in Columbus, GA. Dr. Kyrstin comes from a military family of 8 (6 kids!). She graduated from a High Achievers Program in high school and went on to get her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Berry College in Mount Berry, GA—northwest of Atlanta. During that time, she dedicated her time to working in a psychiatric hospital and a shelter for women survivors of domestic violence. She also participated in a study abroad opportunity she created and went to Peru for a summer. There, she volunteered in an orphanage and hospital for children with disabilities while she dedicated herself to learning the culture and the Spanish language.

She then worked in an urgent care center doing triages and worked her way up to being the personnel manager and decided to pursue her degree Rehabilitation Counseling at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Kyrstin began her internship full time at a community agency and began to specialize in bilingual counseling, crisis, trauma, and working with children, adolescents, and family counseling. Dr. Kyrstin continued her education by earning her Education Specialist degree in Professional Counseling and went on to complete her doctorate in Counseling at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX.

When not working, Dr. Kyrstin loves to spend time with her family and likes to be active outdoors. Dr. Kyrstin rowed in college on the crew team and loves to kayak, swim, and play in the water. Dr. Kyrstin loves to get out on bike rides, jogs (to call it running would be a stretch!), walks around the neighborhood, and hikes.
