About Brittany and Tiffany
Dr. Brittany Pollard is an assistant professor in the Department of Counselor Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the Coordinator of Graduate Counseling Programs at their Pittsburgh campus. She earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Tennessee, where she trained undergraduate-, master’s-, and doctoral-level students in grief mentorship and supervised their work with grieving PreK-12 students throughout surrounding counties as part of the Grief Outreach Initiative. While helping to further develop this program, Dr. Pollard received numerous awards, including the Chancellor’s Award for Extraordinary Graduate Student Teaching. Her clinical experiences have centered primarily around working with chronically underrepresented populations, including individuals living with HIV, survivors of domestic violence and addiction, and incarcerated adults. Her research focuses on the use of experiential and creative learning methods within counselor education, particularly within several “niche” areas of counseling, including group work, grief, and human sexuality. She is active on the conference presentation circuit at national, regional, state, and local levels and was recently honored with the Dean’s Recognition for Exemplary Scholarship. Dr. Pollard has contributed to several textbooks and has been published recently in journals such as the American Journal of Sexuality Education and the Journal of College Student Development. She is currently serving as lead author on a manuscript detailing the grief experiences of graduate counseling students.
