In this episode Dr. Jones and Dr. Townsend discuss the positive effects that mentorship has on Black men. They talk about the lived experiences of Black men and the protective factors needed to support Black men in their career/family life.

Presenter

Dr. Townsend is a national and international trainer. He specializes in addictions and trauma. He is the Co-chair of the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Dr. Townsend was recently appointed as a Board Trustee for the National Board for Certified Counselors Foundation. He was also appointed to the American Counseling Association Black Male Experience Taskforce. His research interests are to Improve educational outcomes for marginalized children, trauma, supervision, & social justice advocacy for the BIPOC community. Dr. Townsend is currently working to develop an evidenced based model to address police brutality in collaboration with police officers and other researchers.
