Today we introduce a new member of the Thoughtful Counselor team, Dr. Margaret Lamar! We learn about her specializations in parent mental health, societal values of mothering, and the impact of unrealistic expectations of mothers on parents, children, and families. Dr. Margaret Lamar is an Associate Professor in the Counseling Program at Palo Alto University. She is a board-certified, licensed professional counselor with a background in university and clinical mental health counseling. Her research is in the areas of maternal mental health, parental mental health, and alcohol/ substance use during COVID-19. She also researches educational interventions in the field of counselor education. Dr. Lamar is a past-president of the Western Association for Counselor Education and Supervision.
