About Javier:

Javier F. Casado Pérez, PhD NCC serves as Assistant Professor of Counselor Education in Portland State University’s Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling program. Dr. Casado Pérez earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision from The Pennsylvania State University, and received his Master of Science in Counseling from Monmouth University, specializing in Marriage and Family Counseling. Dr. Casado Pérez’s scholarship focuses on: equity and justice in higher education, with special emphasis on faculty diversification and minoritized faculty life; relationship and family counseling in child welfare systems; critical theories and practice in professional counseling; mental health justice and social activism; and teaching and learning in counselor education and supervision.
