David DeMatteo, JD, PhD, ABPP

Dr. David DeMatteo is a Professor of Psychology and Professor of Law at Drexel University and the Director of Drexel’s JD/Ph.D. Program in Law & Psychology. His research interests include psychopathic personality, forensic mental health assessment, and offender diversion. His research has been funded by several federal agencies, state agencies, and private foundations. He has published 10 books and more than 140 articles and book chapters, and he has given over 200 presentations at national and international conferences. He is an Associate Editor for Law and Human Behavior and on the Editorial Boards of 12 journals. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Divisions 12 and 41), a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Psychology, and board-certified in forensic psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. He is a former President of the American Psychology-Law Society (APA Div. 41), and he is currently President-elect of the American Board of Forensic Psychology. He was jointly appointed by the American Academy of Forensic Psychology and the American Psychology-Law Society to be Chair of the Committee to Revise the APA Specialty Guidelines for Forensic Psychology. He conducts forensic assessments of adults and adolescents on a variety of psycholegal issues, and he has testified as an expert witness in several state and federal courts.
