They discuss why professional identity is important, how it can be difficult to tease out how counseling is different from other helping professions, and what has been helpful as they grow in their identities as a counselors.

About Robyn :
Robyn Trippany Simmons has been in the counseling profession for over 20 years, with clinical experience in both the public and private sectors and faculty appointments in both on-ground and online counselor training programs. She is a member of the American Counseling Association, the Association for Play Therapy, the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, as well as her state and regional chapters of these organizations. Dr. Simmons research and clinical interests include sexual trauma, vicarious trauma, play therapy, and professional identity issues. She has numerous publications in professional counseling journals, textbook chapters, and professional newsletters and has presented locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally on these topics. Additionally, she serves as the women’s ministry leader for her church, as well as serving on other ministry teams, and is a board member for the Committee on Church Cooperation.
Born in London, England, and raised in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, Hayley Rose is a veteran of the performing arts world and lover of classical music. She is a classically trained professional violinist/violist and music teacher with more than 20 years of experience and has performed at both the Kennedy Center and The White House. Mrs. Rose has experience coaching private students, small chamber music groups, school ensembles, and youth orchestras. Currently, she is earning a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University.
I am a full-time Masters of Arts student working to achieve my degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Liberty University Online. My goal is to become a trauma therapist and work with veterans and the incarcerated population.
