Live Training via Zoom

Please join Kristen J. Vescera, PhD, MPH as she presents a live virtual professional training program on Demystifying Difficult Conversations with Veterans about Firearms. This free program is part of Palo Alto University's At the Forefront of Mental Health series, where experts tackle pressing and emerging issues.

Firearm use and ownership is a controversial topic. However, the rate of firearm suicide among the Veteran community continues to increase. This highlights the growing need for clinicians and mental health providers to better understand and destigmatize conversations with the Veterans they serve. This program will underscore the problem of Veteran firearm suicide, discuss barriers you may encounter when having secure storage conversations with Veterans and how to navigate these challenges and provide several firearm storage resources for both you and your Veteran clients. Participants will earn one live continuing education (CE) hour for attending this event.
