Thelma Duffey, PhD
Thelma Duffey, Ph.D., is Professor and Chair in the Department of Counseling at the University of Texas at San Antonio, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Texas. She is the Founding President of the Association for Creativity in Counseling, a division of the American Counseling Association, and Editor for the Journal of Creativity in Mental Health, published by the Taylor and Francis Group. She is an ACA Fellow and Past President and Treasurer for the American Counseling Association. Dr. Duffey is the recipient of numerous awards from the American Counseling Association, Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, Texas Counseling Association, the Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling (CORE), Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, and the Texas Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. An award was established in her name by the Association for Creativity in Counseling. She is the author of over 60 publications and editor/co-editor of four books. Her research interests include crisis and trauma counseling, relational-cultural theory, and professional issues in counseling.
