This on-demand professional training program on Workplace Violence Prevention and Intervention Programs: Emergency Protocols is presented by Brianne Layden, PhD, in partnership with Protect International Risk and Safety Services.
A critical component of violence prevention and intervention programs is a detailed response plan with which all employees are familiar. In this program, the essential components of an emergency action plan or protocol for responding to threatened, attempted, or actual violence, including “active shooter” situations, are discussed. Key preparatory activities for ensuring successful emergency responses are reviewed, such as training personnel, developing an integrated response structure, liaising with emergency response agencies, developing and maintaining emergency communications systems, and staging mock emergencies to practice responses to anticipated scenarios of workplace violence.
Critical components of post-emergency action also are examined, such as participating in investigations by police and other authorities, providing medical assistance to injured persons and notifying their relatives, and discharging legally-required duties to notify regulatory bodies such as the Occupational Health and Safety Administration.
This on-demand professional training program is intended for mental health and other allied professionals
